Session Descriptions
In each session, you'll have a chance to talk with fellow parents
in a judgment-free zone. You won't be put on the spot or expected
to be all "after-school special," but it's great to learn we are
not alone, and to share wisdom as well as questions with each other.
Video segments keep the conversation going- Ben will
start you off with a few laughs and wrap up the sessions with words
of hope. You'll see Dr. Dave in action
with real parents, and Monique brings
ideas down to earth and into the heart.
Session One: Commitment
In the first session, you'll meet follow parents and start digging
into the concept of thinking like a "we" rather than "me." You
take the lead, parents, in this important first step.
Session Two: Communication
We all know how important communication is, but don't always take
the time. This session is a refresher course in proactive communication
strategies that make an impact. Recognize differences in the way
different family members communicate to reduce frustration and
create quality time.
Session Three: Consistency
The third session centers on a critical issue for building confidence
in your kids-healthy boundaries. Unity and consistency take work,
but the pay off is more quality time and kids better prepared to
make smart choices.
Session Four: Consequences
To time-out or not to time-out? And other questions of consequence
in session four. Discuss strategies that teach and help your kids
mature. Learn ways to bring resolution before the sun goes down.
Session Five: Conflict and Crisis
Conflict can be healthy and have positive results, whether it's
sibling rivalry or crisis brought to your door. Yeah, conflict
can also knock us on our you know what, but coping as a "we," as
a family, can teach your kids important coping skills for a lifetime.
Discuss real life case studies in this session.
Session 6: Connections
The stronger the "we," the stronger your child's ability to handle
outside influences. In this final session, you'll talk about the
strength relationships add to the whole family, ideas for keeping
balance in family life, and celebrate your time together. |
